This Privacy Policy outlines the policies and procedures of Australian Standard Typing Tests™ ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information when you use our website and services ("Service"). It also informs you of your privacy rights and how the law protects you under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Important: We do not use your personal information for commercial purposes. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party under any circumstances. Your information is collected and used solely to administer and verify your typing assessment and to maintain your account with us.

Words with initial capital letters have the meanings defined below and apply whether terms appear in singular or plural form.
Definitions:
Company - refers to Australian Standard Typing Tests™.
Cookies - small files placed on your device containing browsing history details.
Country - refers to Australia.
Device - any device that can access the Service, such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet.
Personal Information - information or an opinion about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, as defined under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Sensitive Information - a subset of personal information as defined under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including health information, biometric information, and information about racial or ethnic origin.
Service - the Website and any related services offered by the Company.
Service Provider - any person or entity that processes information on behalf of the Company.

Personal Information You Provide
In accordance with APP 3 (Collection of Solicited Personal Information), we collect only the personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities. When you register for or use our Service, we collect:
Email address
First name and last name
Note regarding payment information: Payment transactions are processed directly by our third-party payment processors (Stripe and PayPal). These processors may collect additional information such as billing address and phone number as required for payment processing. We do not store payment card details, billing addresses, or phone numbers in our own systems. Please refer to the respective privacy policies of Stripe and PayPal for details of how they handle your payment data.
We do not collect sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), such as health information, biometric information for identification purposes, or information relating to racial or ethnic origin.
Usage Data
Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service. It may include your device's IP address, browser type and version, pages visited, time and date of visit, time spent on pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.

3. How We Use Your Personal Information
In accordance with APP 6 (Use or Disclosure of Personal Information), we use your personal information solely for the following purposes, which are consistent with the primary purpose of collection:
To provide and maintain our Service, including monitoring for performance and security purposes.
To manage your Account and provide access to registered user features.
To deliver the contracted service - processing your typing test using the Typequick Typing Skill Evaluator platform, generating your certificate in accordance with AS2708-2001 standards, and enabling certificate verification.
To contact you by email regarding service-related updates, security notices, or information directly related to your contracted services. We do not send direct marketing communications.
To manage requests and enquiries you submit to us.
To detect and prevent fraud, cheating, and unauthorised access to our systems.
We explicitly confirm that: your personal information is not used for commercial purposes, direct marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than administering and verifying your typing assessment and managing your account. We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your personal information to any third party for commercial gain.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
In accordance with APP 5 (Notification of Collection), we disclose the following third-party service providers and technology partners who may process personal information on our behalf. Each operates under its own privacy policy and is engaged only to the extent necessary to deliver the Service:

None of these providers are authorised to use your personal information for their own commercial purposes beyond delivering the contracted service.
5. Overseas Disclosure of Personal Information
In accordance with APP 8 (Cross-border Disclosure of Personal Information), we disclose that some of our third-party service providers operate internationally and may process or store personal information outside of Australia. In particular, Stripe, PayPal, Google Analytics, Squarespace, and Typequick may process data in the United States, European Union, and other jurisdictions.
Before disclosing personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure that each recipient does not breach the Australian Privacy Principles in relation to that information, including through contractual arrangements with service providers.
By using our Service, you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Australia as described above. For information about how specific service providers handle cross-border data, please refer to their respective privacy policies listed in Section 4.
6. Retention of Your Personal Information
We retain different categories of personal information for different periods based on the purpose for which they were collected and our ongoing legitimate needs:
Test results and performance data (WPM, accuracy, date, test metadata): retained for 5 years from the date of test completion.
Certificate verification records (comprising name, result, date, and certificate ID): retained for the duration of the platform's operation, as deletion would invalidate certificates already relied upon by third parties such as employers.
Account and registration data: retained for 5 years following the date of last account activity.
Usage Data: retained for 12 months.
Upon expiry of the applicable retention period, personal information is permanently deleted from our systems in accordance with APP 11.5. Where you request deletion of your personal information, we will comply within 30 days except where we are required to retain a minimum record by law or to preserve the validity of an issued certificate. We will inform you of any such exception at the time of your request.
7. Disclosure of Your Personal Information
Business Transactions
If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred. We will provide notice before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. Any successor entity will be required to honour the terms of this Privacy Policy or obtain fresh consent from affected individuals.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose personal information if required by Australian law or in response to valid requests from public authorities. We may also disclose personal information in good faith where necessary to:
Comply with a legal obligation under Australian federal or state law.
Protect and defend the rights or property of the Company.
Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service.

8. Security of Your Personal Information
In accordance with APP 11 (Security of Personal Information), we take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Security measures we implement include:
HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit.
Encryption at rest for stored personal information and assessment records.
Role-based access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only.
Secure, reputable cloud hosting infrastructure.
Regular review and updating of our security practices.
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Age Restriction
Our Service is intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. By using our Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information as promptly as possible.
10. Your Rights Under the Australian Privacy Principles
Access to Your Personal Information (APP 12)
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you. To make an access request, please contact us at info@australianstandardtypingtests.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. In some cases, we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing access; we will notify you of any such fee in advance.
We may decline an access request in certain circumstances as permitted under APP 12, such as where providing access would unreasonably impact the privacy of other individuals or where disclosure is unlawful. Where we decline, we will provide written reasons.
Correction of Your Personal Information (APP 13)
If you believe that personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading, please contact us to request correction. We will respond within 30 days. If we correct your information, we will take reasonable steps to notify any third parties to whom we previously disclosed the information.
Deletion of Your Personal Information
You may request the deletion of your personal information. We will comply within 30 days, subject to the retention exceptions described in Section 6. We will notify you if we are unable to fulfil a deletion request and the reasons why.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies
You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies. However, please note that some parts of our Service may not function properly if you disable cookies.
12. Do Not Track Signals
Our Service does not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every website you visit.
